Question Seeking opinion on a quote of New VW Passat B8

Hi everyone, I went to my local dealership during the weekend, and got a quote on the new Passat B8. Just want to seek for your opinion on the price I have got and see if it's a good price.

I have a MY14 Golf 90TSI Comfortline wagon to trade in, and I want to get a new Passat B8 132TSI Comfortline wagon with Luxury Pack. I have only done 5100KMs on my Golf, and it's only 1 year old, so I expect to get higher than average price from the trade-in. I had a talk with the manager, and he offered me 25k for this change over. To make it clearer, I need to pay for the new car for 47k, and I can get 22k from the trade-in.

What do you guys think? Is this a reasonable offer or simply a rip-off?

I think it's a very reasonable offer. How much was your 90TSI Golf and what's the production day of it?

I bought the Golf wagon at 28k without any optional packs. The Build date is Feb 2014, and the compliance date is Aug 2014.

That looks a very good deal
Perhaps I should also enquire re trade in my Passat TDI130 for Passat 132TSI instead of waiting till warranty runs out early next year

I test drove the new Passat and found out it is not as wide as I expected. That's why I am reconsidering replacing my Golf wagon with it. It's the extra features/options (such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot, rear cross traffic, sun roof, city emergency brake, and so on) that attract me a lot. In term of interior space, there is not much difference compares to Golf wagon. I know it's much longer, but it's not really that wider than Golf.

The other thing I concerned is the depreciation that will hit on my Golf. VW has updated MY16 Golf by fitting Rear view camera and higher resolution 6.5 inch LCD with App-connect across the range. That made my MY14 Golf depreciated much faster than normal. What I worry about is how much money I would get after 3 years from the trade-in. It surely will be less than normal depreciation. I'm just trying to minimise my lost while I can.

Do you guys think I should get rid of my Golf now or I should keep it until whenever I really need a new car?

I want a new Passat also. Thinking early next year.
(A little wait helps VW bugs to be corrected? Such as reported cam shaft failures on US Petrol Passat production?)
Depreciation % becomes less each year as car ages. If you are happy with Golf, keep it for a couple more years.
But of course, if VW wants to shift vehicles while under a cloud from diesel gate, could get a good trade in now. OR perhaps wait for end of year sales?
Perhaps get trade in valuation from other car dealer? Audi? BMW? to compare with VW trade in!
Re interior space, Passat is now built on same platform as Golf, except stretched in length.

Buy It of you need it or if you like it. The passat will also depreciate.
Having both a passat and a Golf, I can tell you that there are huge differences in interior space.
Further, if you are concerned that newer golfs will have more free features than yours, consider also that its only a matter of time until active display aetc etc also becomes an option or standard on future passats.Just like pc's, next year's model will be packed with more goodies, but if you live by that mentality, you'll never get anywhere.

I'd also consider the R pack. Its 3500 on top but its got a lot more fruit....

you can squeeze them to around 49K with both packs. (wagon, R and luxury in petrol)
we ended up with the 140TDI, and its leagues ahead of the B7 we replaced....
More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....
