there seems to be only handful of them on this forum maybe that's a bad indication?

Any way since you own TDI 103kw what do you think of the off the line performance from traffic light?
I don't know why it takes TDI 10 seconds to reach 100kmh with so much torque
is it like massive surge to 80kmh and runs out of puff kind of thing? which I wouldn't mind to be honest.

    Cheers,
My MY07 TDI 103KW is three years old today (I have purchased an Extended Warranty) and over that time my average fuel consumption is 6.33 L/100KM (my records, not the MFD). I am retired and so seldom drive during peak hours.
As for the FSI 2.0T: VW recommend 98RON petrol for it as well as the V6. It is only the MY10.5 petrol engines (1.8 TSI 4-cylinder and the V6s) for which VW recommend 95RON.
I do find that off-the-line performance can be a bit scary - for a couple of seconds little happens, then it is as though an after-burner has been turned on. I have not noticed that it "runs out of puff kind of thing" at 80kph. I hope that someone with a FSI 2.0T will tell us whether it suffers from the dreaded turbo-lag.

we've got a Eos with the 147kw TFSI + DSG. Goes nice, real smooth. Havn't owned it too long so dont have that much experience with it but so far, decent.

Any fuel consumption figures you can offer us?
Eos is little bit heavier then Passat TFSI but it comes with DSG so it should have similar fuel consumption figure so it will be nice if you could share us what you've seen.

I have owned a 2.0T for 3.5 years and the fuel economy figures quoted are about right. Lay off the turbo and on the highway at a steady 100km/h I can get about 7.2L/100KM. Got in the high 6's driving from Canberra to Newcastle all highway. Don't notice turbo lag but some lag can occur depending on the way you drive it. Its not meant to be a jack rabbit off the line but it still manages in the 7's for 0-100km/h. Great engine. Has a good power boost around 110km/hr like the second stage of a rocket (I'm told!!)

Have you found any noticeable faults within your time of ownership?
Such as rattle, engine knock/ping or noticeable power loss near the end?
    Thanks in advance.

I have a V6 Highline and after 7 months of ownership it is running at 10.1l per 100km. I do mostly city driving and like to play. What about the servicing cost differences between the petrol and deisel? I know the rego will be higher cause its a six, but the fuel costs may be better than you thought.

    Cheers

As the others have pointed out, the tdi is slow off the line. Once you are up to 2500rpm in 1st gear, the boost comes in with a rush and you are away - there is no lag from that point on to 110km/h+.

I don't know... most of V6 FSI owners report 11L~12L/100kms ish
Which is not really different from 10L/100kms of TFSI
But where do I stop if I keep going up like that?
I have to draw the line.

understand...it is important to draw that line. My line was at the change over price for my Highline V the extra $7/$8 k for the R36.....so appreciate your position. Good luck which ever way you go.
