    Satnav issues - reset procedure?

My Satnav is seriously confused. Has been 'lost' for about two weeks. Does not know where the car is... literally! Usually streets away from where I actually am, or has me driving through scrub or water.

Is there some sort of 'reset' so the Satnav can align itself?

Getting to the point where I have to carry a street directory!

    Cheers,
    Scott

DId you upgrade the firmware on the RNS510 by chance or change something major ? I know when i upgraded my firmware it took around 1 hour of driving to know its not in germany anymore and find were i was. Has it worked fine for a while before this ?

Haven't changed anything. It has worked before, albeit a little hit and miss. Sometimes it knows where it is from the get go, sometimes not. Probably been about 70% good previously. It's never bee 'lost' for this long though.

You should bring up the satellite info and make sure it is still getting a lock. My GPS antenna died and the GPS showed the same symptoms (it still uses other sensorsa other than GPS which are simply not as accurate). If there's no satellite lock, that's your problem.

Sounds great... how do I do it? Short of delving into the manual, I was not able to locate anything about 'satellites' in the menus.

Push the map button again after the map is on the screen. You will get the split screen menu instead of the full screen map. The default for the split screen is the compass - this can be changed in a drop-down box to GPS info. This screen will tell you how many satellites it and see and whether or not it has a lock.
