Should be on the dock if they say it is. You can ask for the VIN and track it yourself if you are seriously doubting them. Putting big pressure on them can get them to hurry up the release if you really need it NOW.
Hi Everyone,
Paid my deposit on an icelandic grey R36 wagon early last week and sold my current car the dar after. Excellent timing I thought. At the time, the dealer told me that my car was on the docks awaiting compliance and that I will have it within a fortnight. Great, I thought.
Anyway I thought I would check on the progress of the car this week and he tells me there is a delay on the docks and that for some reason Patricks have not released my car - should be next week though.
So what does this really mean? Am I in my second week of a 36 week wait??? I know others have had problems with delivery, but I thought mine might be a bit different because it was already in the country..... any thoughts?

Good luck, i bought mine when it was on the dock, had my own car nearly sold andd called to check on its progress,, the car had only just left SA on a ship and delivery was 6-8 weeks away, not the 2 i was quoted.
I ended up finding the exact same car i had ordered at another dealer and he was kind enough to chop another $500 off the already havily discounted price i had.
WHile this may not be the case for you, id be getting some coningency in place and seeing who else in your area had one in your spec.
carsales new car search is a good place to start.

Hi there,
Call up the dealer, and ask for the VIN number.
If you are not able to get a VIN, tell them there is another dealer with the same car available for immediate delivery and say you are willing to cancel your order.
Head to this site, and check the staus of the car... http://www.2wglobal.com/www/customer...LaunchPage.htm VIN is the cargo ID.
It should tell you where it is at!
Good luck!

If you put some pressure on them eg. if you can show there are any misrepresentation of delivery times you might be able to score a courtesy car whilst waiting for your new car to arrive.
If any delivery dates are indicated on the sales contract it will definitely make your case stronger.
This will provide you some convenience and ensures they speed up the process to the best of their ability because every day you drive the courtesy car, they are loosing money.
Good luck

Does delivered from melb mean that it has been released???
I think that means the shipping company has delivered your car to the tender mercies of Patricks
As far as I can figure out VWA only pays Patricks for the standard (ie non-premium) level of service. The result is that Patricks do the Oz compliance stuff and deliver to the dealers in their own time - the dealers can't speed up delivery in any way at all.
This is the most frustrating part of waiting for a new car - no info and you can't do anything at all except wait. Presumably your dealer wants your $$$ and so will get your car to you ASAP. It took 3 weeks for Patricks to deliever my Skoda to my (Canberra) dealer, and 3 days for my dealer to get it ready for me to collect.

2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).
My car literally rolled off the truck at the dealers while he was online with Patricks and they were telling him that it hadn't even started its compliance work.
I believe that (in Melb) that approx 1000 cars are offloaded per ship but Patricks can only process 100 per day through their 'workshop'. Thats why they usually quote 2 weeks (10 working days) for cars to leave the docks as it is planned worst case scenario. Some people whose cars were last off the ship / first into Patricks 'workshop' have got theirs in a few days.
