I'm considering picking up an RS6 Avant and I'd be interested in your opinions about the new and/or previous model. It'll be used as a daily driver so a Benz or similar is out as that's too 'flashy' to take to client appointments, but the Audi seems pretty understated in relation to the price & performance.

    Thanks!

It's the 'half in the know' part that works wonders. An RS6 with no badges (make or model) except on the front grille is just a family car that looks sorta like a Holden Sportwagon if it just passes you going the other way down the road. Petrol heads will see the cross drilled rotors, and trainspotters the chrome mirrors, but Joe Average typically isn't that observant nor knowledgeable.

On top of that, Audi still has the 'fancy VW' aura to some extent so the brand doesn't scream 'money' like a BMW or Benz does - even if the cars are nicer / faster / more costly. That's probably the most important part - I've found people will complain about being overcharged if they see a $20K second hand Porsche in the car park, but won't bat an eyelid at a $90K Holden. If the Audi badge says 'doing okay but still driving a rep-mobile' then that's a good compromise...

But all that aside - what was the RS6 like to live with & drive on a long term basis??

Nope not the new one with the v10. The previous version was what I got to tool around with and as mentioned great car and very nice for a daily driver. The fuel bill was horrible (okay if your having someone else pick it up for you). It also fit 5 people easily and the boot was huge. They are a steal now they are getting around 70k trade in for them now so good buying for some lucky person.

As for being understated... your right take the badges off and its the mean sound it makes when it goes and the puffed out guards and nice body kit that also gives it a way.
