I have a Thule Atlantis 780...its HUGE and will fit any manufacturers roof rack system. Very little to no noise from the roof box when travelling at speed too!

Suggest you have a look before buying something else.

How does it affect fuel consumption at speed on the highway?

In my tdi (103kW) I usually get around 6l/100km going 110km/h+ on the highway. With my Thule box it adds about 1litre extra per 100km.

fuel economy on the diesel is pretty good anyway..so have not really noticed.
We still get close to 850kms per tank with the pod and roof racks...without it is closer to 900kms.

Not sure how close the Passat is to the Octavia, but we avereged 6.5L/100km with the roof pod on, for our holiday form Canberra to Brisbane and back again. Going down to the coast and back, we have never seen more than 6.8L/100km (and we don't drive coservatively at all). This is with the pod, boot and rear passenger foot-wells chocked up with clothes, food, bedding and toys for 2 kids under 3 years old and us two parents.

It is the 103/320 2TDI manual that has the Oettinger reflash to 125/380.

    Does this help?

PS: We run the Rhino Rack Aerobars and Carver pod - both rated to 75kg
