Hi vdubmotorworx, I notice from your signature that you deal with coding type matters so will know a lot more than me. My previous post hopefully has shed more light. Any help would be much appreciated.

You need to get someone with latest VCDS to check the unit for fault codes and try and code it for you.
Absolute worse case you may have to load a factory firmware image which will set coding to 00000000000, then recode it correctly.

there is no way of locking a control unit so it cant be coded unless its the immobilizer... very strange... do you know what the dealer did to fix your towbar? what was the issue with the towbar? they may have recoded the gateway etc online which may have erased your camera coding as it would have set it back as per factory but with a towbar....VCDS would be best to have a play around and see... i would have a look but your not in Brizzy...VDUB...

Thanks Vdub. What VW Ringwood told me is that they got a full set of codes from VWA & entered the full suite in. The original problem with the towbar was that when a trailer was connected, the reverse sensors where not disengaged so would buzz away when in reverse. In the process of fixing that problem initially, they stuffed up my lane assist & auto park. They claim the only way to fix this is to upload a full set of codes in & put everything back to factory set, henxe the RVC stopped working.

Can anyone recommend contact in Melb area that can have a look for me via VCDS?

Just an update & looking for further guidance. Thanks to karnold I got in touch with Craig who knows a hell of a lot mroe about VW coding related matters than I. Craig very kindly took time out of his day & hooked up his laptop (VCDS software) & got the following error "Error 31: Code out of Range" when attempting to get the RVC working. It would allow him to go all the way through but as soon as you try & update this error pops up. He checked all connections at the back of the RNS510 & would they were all in securely.

I have a suspicion that VW Ringwood have somehow "locked" it (on purpose or otherwise). They have refused to help & I am now stuck with an RVC that isn't working. Has anyone else seen this error & if so how did you overcome it?

Thanks Craig for your time yesterday. I very much appreciate it.

    Re: RNS510 locked

From memory on another component you need to add another byte to the coding and then force apply it...will try and get some more details for you...

Which module gave the coding out of range error? Is it address #37 Navigation? (ie RNS510)
If so please post the coding that is currently on the module.

I've just shot a note off to Craig to confirm. He told me yesterday that it seemed as simple as ticking the box that was unticked relating to RVC but wouldn't allow to update. I'll come back to you ASAP. It is an RNS510. Cheers.
