It is saying 'dummy' because it doesn't know how to say that road.

The RNS510 is doing ok for a 7 year old technology, but it's easily outclassed by smart phones now. I don't use the 510 for nav duties anymore the phone integration is pretty good with the latest Bluetooth module and renders the unit to a display and amplifier only for me. I hardly use the touch screen now. I would expect new models or updates to radio nav options by late 2015.

Does that work with Android? You know, the leading smart phone platform in the world =P

Hahaha! Thanks Ryan_R, I thought that it was calling me a dummy. Thanks for confirming it. Are you hearing the same thing on yours?

I was going to ask the same question, Mine gives street names and directions OK, but cannot pronounce suburb names, seemed to start when thenew street numbering started. Iterestingly, have driven from past Nowra on the south coast to Newcastle, and in different locations in Sydney, without it giving the correct suburb town names. My local VW dealer "cannot reproduce the problem".
    Thanks.

yeah, i had teh dummy thing too, drove me nuts. mostly resolved with v6 or v7 maps. it happened on v5 maps that were delivered with the car. it still does it occasionally but not enough to drive me insane.

I've had my Alltrack since January last year and haven't experienced any of these issues. Apart from the slow system start up when the car has been turned off for more than 15 minutes.

I'd suggest asking VW for a firmware update at the next service since they're still under warranty.

Mine also had the Dummy thing until the map base was updated. It now only seems to say Dummy when it gets confused (maybe talking to itself?)
Frankly, the navigation is so poor I've reverted to using my android phone. It's far easier to programme and more reliable in its directions.
My greatest frustration is the alpha keyboard. I'm amazed that is doesn't have an option in the setup for a QWERTY keyboard, really confusing when I'm used to spending several hours per day at a computer keyboard.

unfortunately cannot do this afaik, new mk7 nav can set abcd or qwerty keyboard. there was evidence of one rns510 in hongkong with qwerty but no one knows how to do this.

I had a problem with mine where the radio mute when reversing would not recover on going forward.
But only when cold. B nuisance. However, after car serviced, all OK. Service dept claimed found nothing wrong.
