Thanks - not so worried about the camera, more concentrating on where GPS antenna is located, and how the cable runs (not wanting to go into areas where airbags are fitted etc).
Park assist will work if already fitted, it is possible to retrofit park assist, but its a fiddly, time consuming job.[/QUOTE]
Not worried about that, I've found that the front and rear sensors do a more than adequate job.

Any idea how difficult or expensive it would be?
My R36 wagon was part of the first production run for Australia and VW Australia forgot to tell the factory to include the reversing camera as part of the RNS510 package (the camera is optional elsewhere).
VW Australia have decided that for whatever reason a retrofit is not possible... which sucks, because I'd like a reversing camera!

I was in the same boat, and am told whilst it is possible, it involves running wires from the tailgate to the headunit, which involves a great deal of labour.
VW decided it could cause more problems (possible stripping of other wires etc.
I would have thought it would be the same wiring "loom" for all vehicles, with some wires being redundant, but thats not what I am being told.
Camera would be great, but not too upset about it really given the size of the car, and the credit provided by VW due to the inconvenience.
Confirmed Global Warming Sceptic. No Longer a VW Owner -Loving my new 2011 Range Rover Sport - bought as VW unable to provide info on the new Toureg despite it being released overseas 12 mths ago. 2008 R36 Wagon, 2006 GTI and 2004 R32 - Gone. Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers
Yeah I'm not overly concerned either... it'd be a nice feature but it's probably not worth a great deal of expense..

Anyone, anyone, any tips or pointers on where the GPS antenna is mounted, particularly for a retrofit on a B6 wagon? Internal, external, shark-fin, etc?
Cheers...

hey PP,
I've got the RNS510 on my .:R36 wagon and it's a shark fin antenna mounted in the middle at the back end of the roof. not sure on wiring..
Thanks Jayse, any chance of a pic? I can probably get an idea of where the wiring runs from that.

One of the other guys might have an "aerial" shot of the roof (pardon the pun) showing the gps aerial position on the roof.
Will take one on the weekend and post it up if no-one else does.
Cheers,
Jayse.
