Along the same lines as Snail Styles advice, I'd revert back to the halogens (you don't even have to fit them into the housings) and see what happens. Make sure you cycle both the ignition & headlight switch back to OFF.

If that works then it's probably a ballast issue.

There is a slight possibility that the "canbus friendly" ballast has damaged the BCM but usually the wipers & (possibly horn??) play up at the same time.

I run "canbus friendly" on my Octavia (due to ignorance at the time) and I coded them in as well. I'm told it's a ticking time bomb but it's been good for 5 years so maybe not.

If I was buying again I'd buy without a resistor & code them.

If you have damaged a module it might be worth reading the codes.

If the fault does move to the other side, then it will be one of the 2 components at fault, the ballast or the bulb itself.
oh the hid unit, yeah the was the first thing i did ,at first i thought it was a bad bulb/ballast but i tested it on the other side and it worked, i even put halogens to test and they still wouldnt turn on

while im waiting, i was thinking of getting a wire and connecting the power from the left headlight dipped beam to the right one which isnt working, that way when the headlights turn on the right will as well? could anything bad occur from this?

Power supply is direct from the power supply module. So if you have no power at the connector, you need to check back at the brown 52 pin connector under the dash, pin number 52 with a yellow wire and a purple trace.

If there is nothing out of the module, and power + earth supplies to it test fine, then your most likely looking at a new control module.

I guess if you can sleep at night knowing that your HIDs might have caused the fault...
