Dr Block, having now had my (rear camera) equipped CC for several months now, I thought you would find the following interesting:
1. The (oem) rear camera on my car often "lags" is selecting reverse. I therefore often see myself checking the rear view mirror and looking over my shoulder before it displays the rear image!
2. Although the rear camera is nevertheless handy as an additional aid, I find the rear sensor display (which I can toggle on and off) almost as useful. Indeed it is hard to judge distances via the camera but the rear sensor display gives me a more accurate idea of the rear obstacle.
What I am saying is this: if its too late to have the rear camera fitted, take delivery of your car and see whether you can live with the rear (proximity) sensor display. I think that you will find that although you will find yourself thinking it would be nice to have a rear camera in some situations, you will learn that the rear proximity sensors will help you a lot of the time.
