Reversing Camera for R36 Wagon

Noticed in a Lambo drive on Top Gear that the Reversing camera appeared to be a full time "Rear vision Camera". Anyone know if there is anyway of activating the
camera in a Passat without selecting reverse. Might be a great way to eliminate some of the blindspots.

1. Buy an IMA from Kufatec
2. Hook up the Reverse Camera (e.g. an aftermarket RVC) to the IMA
3. After coding with VAGCOM, your reverse camera will always show up on screen if you choose Video in your "Media" option.

Note: This also means that if you are in"Radio" mode and put into Reverse, the screen will NOT change to the reverse camera video on screen.

If you choose the RVC IMA from Kufatec, the reverse camera will ONLY show up on screen if you put into reverse.

So .. these are the 2 options you have.

Dr Block, having now had my (rear camera) equipped CC for several months now, I thought you would find the following interesting:

1. The (oem) rear camera on my car often "lags" is selecting reverse. I therefore often see myself checking the rear view mirror and looking over my shoulder before it displays the rear image!

2. Although the rear camera is nevertheless handy as an additional aid, I find the rear sensor display (which I can toggle on and off) almost as useful. Indeed it is hard to judge distances via the camera but the rear sensor display gives me a more accurate idea of the rear obstacle.

What I am saying is this: if its too late to have the rear camera fitted, take delivery of your car and see whether you can live with the rear (proximity) sensor display. I think that you will find that although you will find yourself thinking it would be nice to have a rear camera in some situations, you will learn that the rear proximity sensors will help you a lot of the time.

My last car (Lexus IS250 Sport Luxury) had a RVC which was excellent, didn't lag and also had the guides to display where your car was in relation to any obstacle. When used in conjunction with the sensors was fantastic. Car prior to the Lexus only had rear sensors which were fine as well,just relied on the mirrors a bit more without an RVC.

I'm sure that I'll be able to live without the RVC on the R36,however, would've been nice to have as they're handy as a reversing aid and would also add to the resale come changeover time.
