    Reverse lights

The reverse lights are really quite dim on the V6 Highline Wagon, IMO. At night, there is not really enough illumination to make it light enough for the rear view camera to see anything, or for that matter for you to be able to see anything either.

I notice that under the rear bumper between the twin tail pipes, there is a nice flattish area where a couple of extra lights could be attached so as to add more illumination. Has anyone seen or attempted to put some lights there? I was thinking that a light either side near the tailpipes would look good and have them wired to the reverse lights but have them switchable so that they could be turned off in case they blinded people in situations where it would be inappropriate to have the extra lighting. Situations such as when you are reversing in a street when there is traffic coming and the axtra light may dazzle drivers.

I know it would have to be a canbus adjustment, but having them switchable would cause issues for the canbus as the circuit due to the fact that there would be different loads for when they are on or off, even if a relay was used. Any ideas?

There was talk about removing the red lens cover over the rear fog light, and wiring it up as a second reverse light (which would help), but there wasn't a whole lot of detail in that thread, or a howto. It's not just the V6 highline - it's most VW group cars, since they only have one reverse light.

Mine has two reverse lights but I can tell you right now, they might as well not work. The reflective area where the bulbs are located is way too small to throw out decent light.

Agreed.... We need to find a bright LED option for the reverse lights, especially one that doesn't make the car throw a warning on the MFD. I seem to recall seeing something out there or on here but no real solution. Just keep looking I guess.
