replacing rear window motor did not fix problem?

My rear passenger window motor on b6 Passat did not work either at door switch or drivers switch. When wiring loom unplugged and reconnected at the rear door, the window would work at rear door switch only for just over a minute or so but would not go auto up and down. After the minute or so the window would stop working as though there was no power. There does not appear to be any breaks in the cable at the rear door. Is there anything else to change or do you have to 'teach' the car that there is a window there? If so, how?

Forgot to say that I changed the motor but the issue remains exactly the same with the new motor!

Are you able to access the door with vcds? There are some tests that can be performed with the software.

Check for wire breakages where the wiring passes from the B-pillar to the door.

Hello, no access to vcds unless I go to a garage. I have checked cabling before and all seems OK. If bad earth etc or breakage, why would the window motor work after disconnection of wiring plug at pillar and then reconnection - the motor works on rear door switch only for a few minutes and then stops again. The drivers switch does not do anything at all during this period and when using the rear door switch the window does not do the one touch up or down, you have to hold switch.

On another forum it was explained about reseting the window, effectively teaching the car that the window is there - this did not solve it for me.

Is there anychance that the drivers switch is some sort of control module for the window, if this switch is faulty then it stops operation of the window? - grasping at straws here, there must be some sort of master controller somewhere which shuts off the power etc?

Rears work off LINbus, and from memory, use the corresponding front module to some extent.

    Hello all

I have now noticed an additional problem - the central locking does not work on this door either. I put the old window motor back in but no change - a VWAudi specialist said that the central locking goes through the window motor? Can't get the car booked in until a couple of weeks - any ideas on how to get the central locking working (more importatnt than the window)

    Thanks
