Have seen MK5 Golfs do rear wheel bearings. I'd imagine its the same part. Pot holes, gutters, etc, don't do them any favors.

While replacing the rear brake pads on our 2006 B6 wagon, I discovered that the drivers rear wheel bearing is loose (which has knackered the tyre). This bearing was replaced by the local dealer 20,000kms ago to the tune of $600. Surely, this is way premature for a failure. We're supposed to be off on the family Chrissy pilgrimage tomorrow, so I'm going to have to get this done asap. So I have some Q's for the brains trust:
Does anyone know if VW have a km warranty on wheel bearings?
In anticipation of them shafting me, if I find that it's just the main bolt holding the hub/bearing assembly that's come loose and the bearing is still ok, can I just torque this back down (with copious thread locker). Sounds dodgy, I know.
The most frustrating part is that I now realise I was 3/4 of the way there to replacing the bearing whilst doing the pads!
Any info/opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Just a follow up on this for future people searching.
The VW dealership said they warranty wheel bearings for 2 years and 50,000kms.
Unfortunately for me, it turned out that the K-frame bolts were loose and the wheel bearing was fine. I ended up copping $300 to have them torqued and a wheel alignment. Apparently you don't have to check the suspension bolts after that corner has been rattled to hell by a failed bearing. So bloody annoying.
Moral of the story, don't rush and come to hasty conclusions.
