Rear LED Tail Lights 06 B6 Wagon / VW / Allianz Warranty

Had one replaced under Allianz warranty previously. Now left one has gone as well. Allianz now declined the warranty replacement saying that the last one was a mistake?? They say now that as taillights are now not covered under normal VW warranty which is news to me they won't cover it either? Epping VW has said they will do it for $250 but I've decided to let it go for the moment as only a few are out.

Can anyone confirm or has anyone had theirs replaced recently under warranty?

Is it possible that they've not taken into account the fact that they're LED and are (in theory) supposed to last the life of the car, as opposed to the traditional incandescent bulb-type, which are a consumable item?

Yes that was my point.

But according to here they have changed their warranty now - not sure if has been changed since I got the extended warranty.

"Wear and tear. Any parts that wear out as part of their normal operation (e.g. clutch linings, brake discs and pads, brake linings, wiper blades, globes of all types (including Bi Xeon and LED), fuses, trims brakes, diesel particulate filters, catalytic converters, all belts, tyres, wiper blades, spark plugs, filters, Satellite Navigation update disks and all other parts of your vehicle that have been subject to normal wear and tear)."
