    RE: Windscreen Wiper Blades

    Hi All,

    I know this has been talked about before;
    http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ghlight=wipers
    http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ghlight=wipers

    But I was not too keen to stray from the OEM wipers until I read a little deeper into the thread. It was mentioned to look at Tridon Windscreen Wiper Blades.

    Here is the part finder for Tridon;
    http://www.tridon.com.au/partfinder/default.aspx

    There products seem very good and unlike MK4 and MK5's the Passat has a slightly different way the blade connects to the arm. It is called a Top Lock Push Button system.

    Here are the part numbers for the Passat;
    TFB19TLP
    TFB24TLP

    I have ordered a set from Bursons and should be available early next week.
    I will let you know how they go.

    VW quote about $33 each for the blades.
    The Tridon wipers are about $24 each, not much cheaper but certainly worth a try.

    I just was not keen on stripping mine out and trying to retro-fit blades.

    wouldnt be hard to be an improvement on the standard ones- keep us posted.

    Also at bursons just ask for a trade discount and they usually give 15%. i got a card pretty easily just by asking.

    Interesting mate i have a superb relationship with bursons , nice one will talk to them and stock up. They are dark horses really IMO, i have had a Honda Accord which was a submarine, and consequently the clutch welded itself on , at the same time the release bearing shat, couldnt get one anywhere, so i thought try Bursons, man they came up trumps along with my mega discount couldnt be happier with them.

    You can replace the inserts with genuine VW parts for $12.95ea. You don't have to replace the whole thing. This applies to Polo, Passat Caddy, and Golf.

    We tried the Tridon ones at work, and found that they weren't always compatible, according to their listing.

    Ok, so I picked up the Tridon Wipers today from Burson.
    I quickly turned around and took them back!

    Long story short, they are re-branded Valeo products (not such a bad thing) however they do not have end caps on the ends of the wiper blades like the OEM wipers. So basically they look unfinished. Almost like they have been plastic welded on the ends and you can see the daggy ends.

    Anyway, I contact the product manager from Tridon (very helpful) he advised that they are designed like that, however within the next month they will be re-relased with end caps on them.

    This is just an asthetic thing, however it was not to my liking, I am positive that they would work great! They just do not look great!

    (I hope the above makes sense...)

    I got my money back and went down to my local VW Dealership and picked up the following wipers;

    - 3C2955426C (driver.)
    - 3C2955425C (pass.)

    But after this exercise, he won't waste another $18 each time he changes wiper blades... add to that, people from this forum benefits as well... probably time well spent...

    Very true...

    As I stated earlier, I was not keen on taking my wipers apart and doing the $4.00 wiper replacement. If that works for you thats great! But not for me sorry!

    I had read some good reviews on the Tridon wipers, like I said I might even run with these in the future when they fix the appearance by adding the end caps.

    However until then, I will stick with the VW wipers.

    I have not felt like time has been wasted!
    And I do hope this excercise has helped someone else on here also.

    Part numbers are available, product info reviewed!

    I went to the VW dealer in Belconnen ACT today with these part numbers and was quoted $35 (inc GST) each.
    Are these part numbers for the replacement inserts or for complete blade assemblies?
    If for complete assemblies, what are the VW part numbers for the replacement inserts?

    MY07 TDI 103KW Passat sedan.

    They are full replacement blade assembly, not just the rubber insert.
    I hope this helps.
