RE: Passat Batter Cover / Housing

    Hi All,

Sorry if this has been discussed previously, but some assistance is needed.

Can someone please explain the differences (apart from the obvious) between the battery covers in Passats.

In my previous 2007 2.0TFSI it had a plastic surround and a plastic lid.
However in my 2010 125TDI it has a cloth style insulated bag around the battery.
2010 1.8TSI models also have a plastic surround and a plastic lid.

Is one better than the other, in terms of heat reduction / reflection.
Or is it just VW cost cutting?

    Happy for input!

When i change the battery i throw away the sleeping bag, its all good in Europe for thermal efficiency, they cook over here, they probably need 2 sleeping bags over there LOL
