I'd go with Century battery, Supercharge would be my last choice from your list, if you ask me. AC Delco makes nice batteries too.

Looks like a toss up between Varta 574492 E38 Silver Dynamic and the Supercharge Gold MF66...
Might have to price some of these Batteries up.
What are your thoughts / experiences guys, happy to discuss...

ive always used optima batteries and they work well
I had an AC Delco in my Honda Accord Euro and it was fine. Also my previous GM cars had AC Delco also.
Why would you choose Century, from the specs it doesn't seem to be up there with the specs. And why would you put Supercharge in last place?
Just keen to know as there specs / warranty seem to be the best!
Are they made in China?

I should mention that I am only after direct replacement batteries.
Not one that requires addtional bracing or can not fit within the plastic box in the engine bay.
I understand that there are increased benefits / weight reductions to be had with the smaller batteries like Optima, however I am just looking for a direct replacement.
Thanks for the input though...

Again its everyones preference, Century would be low on my list. I deal with Alco and they make a great calcium battery.

Century/Yuassa (GS/Yuassa) is one company.

Yuassa batteries have a very good reputation. I see many of them last really for a long time - like 7-8 and more years. Our Forester had GS battery from new I replaced the battery when the car was 5 years old and use the old battery for testing starter motors and so on, then 3 years after it was out of the engine bay it still started the engine; we used it for a week before I fitted a new battery. I forgot to mention the battery that died in Forester was only 3 years old Optima Yellow Top, second Optima which died on me (the first one was in 12 months old Jeep Cherokee 2.8L CRD, it was the Red Top Optima and it was replaced under the warranty by the dealer). GS, Panasonic, yuassa batteries I see in Japanese cars last the longest time. Can't say the same about Varta.
The OPTIMA is still a good quality battery that has a potential to last a long time, but you have to get it fresh not already 2 or 3 years old, which is a problem with the batteries that are expensive and are sold in a small numbers, they seat on shelves for long time before they're sold.

Spoke with Battery World today, they recommend Century and Federal Batteris for this application.
The only issue they mentioned about the Supercharge Batteery is the fact that it can sometimes over heat and leak acid.
That is the advantage of the Century Battery, as it is deemed to be better suited to Australias Hotter Conditions.
Thanks for the input though, this could be a useful thread / guide for others when they are looking to replace the OEM Battery.
