    RCD510 Andriod phones

According to some forums the text message on
iPhone's cannot be displayed on the RCD510.
Has anyone successfully been able to read text messages
From their Andriod smartphone into the RCD510??
The rcd510 has a message text button but mine keeps saying
Unable to display when my iPhone is connected

Which version of Bluetooth do you have in the car? The common 9W7version doesn't have remote sim (rsap) so can't do SMS messages, whereas the 9WZ can do this if the phone is compatible. Downside to rsap is that the phones antenna is turned off and the car uses its antenna, good for phone battery life but you lose your 3G internet.

On Android, however, I have a free app that detects when I'm connected to the car Bluetooth and turns up the music volume on the phone for A2DP and when text messages are received the MFD shows an incoming call, which when answered is you phone trading out the text message (you can hang up early if you have passengers). Personally I don't think using the head unit for text messes would be that beneficial as a driver.

    Hope this helps.
