Rattle in engine on Hot restart

    Hi
I have two 2010 R36s, purchased from new. One has 73k and one 45k.

I have noticed that when I restart the engine say 15 mins after a hot run the engine has a definite top end (valve gear) rattle on idle (similar to a noisy diesel engine) and this noise does not go away even when I blip the throttle but does vanish a few seconds after the car is driven off.
This rattle is intermittent so it doesn't occur every hot start up. It's more noticeable in the higher k car. The rattle is not like the noise the engine makes on a cold start which is more of a rasp sound for a second or two.

All servicing has been carried out by major VW dealer in Auckland and engine oil used is Castrol Professional Synthetic 5W-50.
Dealer has no knowledge of this problem before in any R36s
As warranties expire soon I'm having both cars looked at by dealer to insure they have this complaint well noted on their file should something drastic be found later.

Maybe record the rattle on my cell phone.

Can anyone shed any light on this issue, thanks

    Peter
