Thanks for the info. Always good to know the true limits of the car.
The lowest I've ever gone is 25km remaining.
Well... Yesterday I managed to get the Range to show 0km while I was still driving along. Albeit for about 3km further when I pulled into a petrol station.
I brimmed it and it took 65 litres exactly! The distance driven was 520km, all around town driving with some agressive squirts every now and then included. So that's a good 12.5 litres per 100km. Happy with that for city driving!
Good to know there's another 5 litres to go when cutting it that close too which is at least 25km more at that efficiency.
Just thought I'd share. That's all in my .:R36 by the way.
Cheers!![]()

At 520 km on the trip meter, my slowcoach tractor CC generally shows range between 500 to 600 km. Last tank was 1090... 64 litres.... range 65 km.
Have seen zero range and put in 66.2 litres. Impressed that I can get that into a 70 litre tank. Slightly off topic but My 70 litre Holden ute tank took 55.8 litres AFTER running out of fuel. Holden service excuse was 15 litres was "retained to cool the fuel pump".
Actually to stop bashing myself up to badly for cancelling the V6 and buying the TDI, I have consoled myself with the fact that, at legal speeds, the TDI is probably quicker from Sydney to Melbourne than the V6 - as long as bladder control is maintained.
Of course Rocket, this is only my opinion.
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.
out of curiosity, what was the fuel gauge sitting on Rocket?

The R36 has a 68L tank, not a 70.
I ran out comming into Jindabyne from Thredbo, rolled down the last hill into the Shell at the bottom.
68L of fuel went in clicking several times.
from memory the fuel guage was about half way in the red...
according to the WVA website the fuel tank on all Passat variants are 70lt

Correct...
And the reason the bowser reads low is because service stations are very cautious about their calibrations. Safer to read slightly in favour of the customer than to have Wieghts and Measures get a complaint from a customer, go out and check the bowser and find out it is in fact ripping people off!
