RRP is $64,990 though so you already have a discount.... It's actually a bit harder to bargain with dealers since the legislation changes I reckon.
    Excellent.

It seems they got it right. I wasn't sure what the RRP was in May but I had the Feb price of $65 990.

So if the sedan was $64 990 it seems as though they subtracted the metallic paint price of $1000 leaving a base price of $63 990 and then adding the $2000 for the sunroof taking the price up to $65 990 with the sunroof which seems fair since the sunroof is $1000 more expensive than the metallic paint option.

Hmmm... I'm not 100% on the RRP though. Now that you mention it, it could be $65,990. Like I said, talking a few thousand dollars doesn't make much of a difference to me, hence I'm not 100% sure of how your dealer's done the figures.

Yes - dealers LOVE me! lol What's the best price? $72k drive away they say. Make it $70k and it's a deal. But it has SatNav and sunroof they say. I don't care, I wouldn't order one with those options, so make it cheaper and I'll buy it. Done they say! lol Makes it easy for everyone and I picked it up 4 days later.

You definitely did well to get the instant hit... I think that I would easily have paid another thousand or so to get it straight away vs waiting 4 months.

The waiting is very very ordinary. As you can see so much time to twiddle one's thumbs about. My wife is surprised I'm still so interested after 2.5 months of waiting.

lol... I wouldn't have been able to wait. I'd have bought a different car. An extra couple of thousand with a 4 day turn around? *in my best Jeremy Clarkson impersination* THANK YOU!

A white R36 costs $2000 more than any other colour, because you cannot order a white R36 without the sunroof. Why? Nobody seems to know. This is not just particular to the aussie market either, it's the same deal in Germany.

Here in Australia VW wont offset the price of the sunroof with the optional cost of metallic/pearl paint. They say the paint is free on the R36. In Germany on the other hand a white one is about Euro850, or the cost of metallic/pearl paint, cheaper...

As it should be here!!! I mentioned this so many times now... If you're dealer is charging you the full amount for the sunrood on a white R36 then THEY'RE RIPPING YOU OFF!!!!

Well unless my maths is wrong my base price of $58 142 ex GST comes in at $63 900 effectively with GST so is discounted $2k on the standard price of $65 990. Because it is white it has to come with the sunroof (listed as an option for $2k) so the base price then becomes $65 990 including the sunroof for a white R36.

So it appears I paid no more for the sunroof on the white R36 vs a metallic colour car without the sunroof. Both are $65 990 RRP.

It makes the WHITE R36 the best value for money car effectively.

The standard non white R36 has metallic paint "included". The options list prices this at $1000. So people going for the metallic colours are getting their car at $64 990 base for the car, and $1000 of metallic paint value thrown in making the RRP $65 990.

White R36s are minusing the metallic paint, but have a $2000 sunroof thrown in. So its $63 990 base price with $2000 for the sunroof. So while you aren't getting the metallic $1000 paint thrown in; you're getting a $2000 sunroof thrown in. $1000 more value thrown in than the metallic paint car order. I hope it makes sense.

Someone who wanted metallic paint is having to pay $2000 on top of the $65 990 that a metallic car costs - taking the price to $67 990.

have to agree with Rocket on this.... if you are being charged you are being screwed over.

I signed up for a wagon with satnav and power tailgate and they had 2 that were showing as available in the System, White, or Grey (without a sunroof). I said I would be happy with either!!

They were both the same price!!

I've done the same thing, for a Holden, dropped it from a first price of $47,000, wound up driving it away with tinted windows, paint protection, towbar, care pack, etc, for $39,500. Basically just told the guy I was going to sit in his showroom until he agreed to the price I wanted to pay, and that when he had his best price, final best, no more mucking around, dollar less and he'd be sacked, then I'd consider it..

    How much?

I ordered mine at Brisbane motorshow February 2008. Picked it up June 24 2008. Told I had second one on road in Brisbane. Black wagon with sunroof. Paid $61,742 on road no more to pay. Negotiated well.
