Then went and paid $66700 DA for the MY10 R36 sedan with satnav, sunroof, tinting and paint protection With the sale of the GT4 and Audi, corporate discount and shopping around with a pocketful of cash, I was out of pocket less than $20k. Mind you, that was now over 6 weeks ago when there were a few cars still available! Guess I had a bit of luck on my side!
Hi Greggles, that sounds like a great price. Did the car have to be built or was it waiting for delivery to Oz? I could see myself being sorely tempted by $64k, but I would want something in the next 2-3 months or sooner.

The three dealers I talked to promised me a car within 10 weeks (this was 2 or 3 weeks ago). I guess there are a bunch on their way that haven't been pre-allocated to anyone yet, so if your desired specs match one of those already on a boat, you could get lucky. Having said that, I couldn't get close to that price!

Just to be clear that the $64k was not on-road. Fortunately the R36 was part of an existing order. There was an Icelandic grey with all the fruit I was after (satnav and sunroof). The corporate discount was a major sweetener, and then with the negotiation around price, I had a great deal! That said, there were 3-4 other vehicles at the time that I could have got given these were vehicles ordered by other dealers (or is it VW Australia?) As I indicated, I'm not sure if the very good deal I got was because there was a little less demand for the cars when I ordered, or because the salesman was very keen for a sale. He was recommended by someone else who had a good deal so it might be the latter. Contact me off-thread if you'd like his name. I'm counting down the days till October 4!!

    Wow!

    Scotty,

That is a ripper of a quote! Did it include corporate discount?

If you factor in the paint, interior and tinting (c $2k) in my quote it's as good a deal as mine of $67700 BUT then my price included a corporate discount of 10%! With CD yours drops a further 10%!

That looks to be through a broker, so yes CD would be in play.

Man I can't even get a dealer to talk to me, let alone give me that price.

The only time I have sat down with a sales person the said $80K so I said you can kiss my and left.

He hasn't contact me since LOL

If I could get an R36 Wagon for under 70K on the road with the minimum of a sunroof I would most probably do something by end of this month but F*(K it is hard work getting these hard working sales people out from behind there desk or stop talking to each other.

Might have another go this week but it is all too hard for this black duck LOL

Mate, I think the market for R36's has moved a fair bit over the last 12 months. There were great deals to be had early on in the piece before stock ran out. Mine was ordered 5 or 6 months ago, and negotiating on price was hard going back then (ended up at $70k after an eternity of back and forth) ... sounds like things are even tighter now! Good luck - all that crap fades quickly from memory once you're behind the wheel !

Same car different date doesn't add up to + $10K.

It is not as though a new model has been released and hence they are back up to full price for a few years.

Each to their own I guess, but if they accepted those prices 6 months ago that is all I am willing to pay now for the same car.

For me it is simple I buy an R36 or I buy something else
