R36 Wagon - 20" x 9.5 +29 offset BBS CK

Im thinking of upgrading my wheels on my R36 wagon, and was wondering if a 20"x9.5 +29 rim will fit..... I used a wheel offset calculator and it came up :


Inner Clearance: 2mm more (the inside of the wheel to the strut housing)

Outer Position: Extend an extra 28mm (position of the outside edge of the wheel)

Im not very savvy with wheel offsets and fitment, so would any one care to shed some light if this will fit, and I am considering buying a set from interstate from a buyer who had these on his RS4 B7.

Sounds like they will be perfect.
I wouldn't worry much about the inner clearance of 2mm.
If you are really concerned, measure from your current wheel face 28mm outwards and see how you go.

Then make a correct tyre choice to ensure no problems and it should look great.

Unlikely.
I have 19x8.5 +38 and they just rub on heavy bumps at the rear and my wheels sit out only 12mm more than stock
The wheels you suggest will poke out 33.5 mm more than stock according to my calcs (what offset are you putting into your calculator? should be +44)

CK's in audi fitment will be more aggressive than the normal VW fitment...but 28mm didnt seem like too much to push it....

Ie the ET for the Audi fitment CK's is likely 32 or something.

R34, woops, I entered the standard R36 18" wheels as 18x8.5 +44. Whereas it should be 18x8 +44. So with these 20"x9.5 +29 offset, it will sit out an extra 34mm, and 2mm less on the inside. 34mm is way too much I think, unless I do some guard rolling, which I dont think is advisable on such a new car. Oh well. So in a 20" rim, what would be the perfect offset then? Or in a 19". Im talking flush with the guards with no rubbing. Not really planning on coilovers or springs just yet, as I think the standard ride height is perfect.

Just measure and see perhaps?
Lipping guards is hardly drastic and will improve markedly.
Also a lot resides in tyre choice, a "flush" wheel will most likely involve a degree of stretch. Esepecially if you lower it by any amount.
Coilovers are it for the R36, you'll need the adjustability.

probably could work them with a bit of stretch and appropriate suspension set up (ie, something firmer), but don't be mistaken, that's a BIG wheel

There's nothing to roll. You'll have to trim back the guard edge.

Also, don't rule out stretch-fitting, either. A 235 tyre would probably be enough on a 9.5in rim to give you the clearance, providing your suspension travel was minimal.

Fantastic choice in wheels though imo.

Half inch lower in the front and one in lower in the rear would be spot on though.
