That brings me to another issue --- if I arm the security with my dog inside will he set it off if he moves ?

Two different ways to inactivate the alarm's interior motion sensors :
1 As theplanner says, press the switch that is (probably) partway down the driver's side B pillar before locking your car (this just inactivates the motion sensors when the alarm is set).
2 Double press the lock buttons on your remote - this will lock (but not deadlock) your car, and will leave the alarm switched off (totally).
The motion sensors on my Octy seem to be very sensitive, if I forget and set the alarm with one of my dogs in the car it will go off nearly straight away, even if the dog is lying still on the back seat.
