Its probably best to change oil at 1500-2000Km.

Hmmm... Mine goes in on the 25th for the nut and bolt check and will be just shy of 2000km. Might get the oil replaced then.

    What oil do people recommend?

For me, always whatever the manufacturer specifies these days.
I used to use only a particular synthetic but nowadays I figure they've specified an oil for a reason and it wouldn't come up as a potential issue if you ever have a major engine failure, don't give any manufacturer a potential excuse to renege on warranty.

On the oil issue..i've gotten a free top up from my dealer..in and out in 5mins.
Replacement might be a different issue though...sorry, forgot to ask them what oil they used.

If you read the manual it says no hard driving for the first 5000Km's (this is off memory).. But it is in your book...

Since I hate reading I say to the book...

I would say that none of us intend to keep the car for 100,000km's so like all the other threads drive the f*cking wheels off it..

You can trust the article on running an engine in. I've run three brand new cars off the showroom floor that way (and one 1000cc motorbike) and they all turned into perfect engines. Maximum power, nil mechanical hassles. My last three cars have had higher than 'normal' dyno readings, STOCK, after their 5000km service.

This brings me to my next point - oil changes.

I would recommend changing your oil every 1000km for the first 5000km, then every 5000km after that. Till you get rid of the car. Change it regularly during the 'run in', you don't want that gunk flowing through your car. Every 5000km thereafter to maintain health. I'm not a mechanic. I just know this works from experience.

And whoever gets to 100,000km first in their white R36 wagon, please send me a PM with your selling price
