Standard power to weight equations would say not so but I saw that youtube video of the r36 speedo on a sprint at 6 secs dead but there was no mention as to whether any aftermarket mods had been done to the car.

Thanks guys!

It's more than just simple power to weight ratios. You have to remember that the DSG takes *alot* off the 0-100 sprint, compared to a normal manual, due to its quick change and therefore seamless power delivery. This makes a big difference.

Also, the Passat develops it's torque quite low(for a normally aspirated petrol car) and has a broad band of torque which also helps get it off the line very quickly.

Due to the fact that it is AWD, there is no wheel spin involved which can also rob a car of valuable time getting it on the move.

From what I have seen from the data that VW supplies with their cars, their 0-100 times are pretty much exactly what VW specified when it comes to being tested by reviewers and magazines, rarely being more than 1/10 sec out in the 0-100 times.

I have no doubt that the R36 should be good for it's claimed 0-100 in 5.6sec for the sedan and 5.8 for the wagon, depending on load of course.
