Hah, I've had a lot of my plate recently. Probably going to give Revivor's advice a whirl and see what happens.

I have a feeling it'll still end up with me replacing something but we'll see how I go.

Gave the car a wash today and decided to have a play with the wipers as per Revivor's advice. Turns out there's a spring within the wiper mechanism that's making an insane creaking sound.

Now just thinking whether or not it's worth going through warranty to get it replaced.

You may want to try some WD-40 (or equivalent) first - have found that it can make a big difference in such situations (suggest that you use the little tube so that you do not get it everywhere).

My opinion would be to get it fixed under warranty. WD40 would only go so far! The spring is not a common wear & tear part as far as I'm aware. ie. its not supposed to make that noise so early in its life.

Fully agree with revivor - WD40 is only a temporary measure (to make it livable/less annoying until you fix it). If the car is under warranty, go and let the VW service people have the pleasure of listening to the noise . . .
