R36 Oil Usage - Check oil warning light.

Today i had a check oil notification appear on the dash display. i had my oil topped up at 35000km. It is now at 44000. I Checked the dip stick and it was very low. Has anyone else had the check oil warning light?

I know they burn oil but i am thinking this is lillte bit more that expected. I will take the car to the dealer tomorrow for a top up and see what they have to say.

So anyone know other than normal usage what would be causing excesive burn? What tests should be run to ensure the engine does not have any issues?

All VW range can use 500ml of oil every 1000km's....the figure used to be 1litre every 1000km's but this has been dropped down in the last month.. The figures are in your handbook. Get your oil topped upto max level, no higher, no lower and then return the car in 1000km, they will check the level, if it takes more than 500ml to put the level back to max mark then they will investigate further. ....vwtech
