R36 on its way couple of questions

    Afternoon All

I pick up my 08 r36 on Friday and want to change a couple of bits.

Im looking for a very good bluetooth kit and GPS in dash unit. Not really wanting to pay the premium for the VW specific stuff.

    What would you all recommend?

    thanks

There's the Fiscon bluetooth upgrade module, which is fully integrated, but expensive. If your R36 has the RNS510 satnav unit (four buttons either side of the screen), you can use the FISCON Plus, which has additional functionality for the touchscreen. If not, you can get the FISCON Basic, which relies purely on the MFD and the steering wheel buttons for the user interface.

In terms of satnav, there's the ANS-510 (6.5" screen, same as the factory RCD-510/RNS-510 units) or ANS-810 (8" screen) aftermarket replacements, which have a factory-look and is well supported by the seller on this forum - I believe the ANS has inbuilt bluetooth as well IIRC.

There's a newer DNS-series replacement, which is more powerful and flexible, but there appear to be some unresolved issues with it.

i have the standard bluetooth in mine so can't comment on an aftermarket option

    in terms of GPS..
for my R36 i purchased a unit from jku.com.au the service was great and shipping was super fast. unit works 100% and was MUCH cheaper than factory option
for my wife's skda i purchased a unit from ebay and it came from lithuiania. shipping was amazingly fast (less than 1 week) and the unit also works 100%. also at $850 it was half of the jku price and 1/4 of the volkswagen price

my advice would be to find a genuine volkswagen unit like i did from either of the above sources and don't go for a crappy aftermarket unit. in the long run you will thank yourself.
