would have thought motorway economy would have been better compared to going down a stop start road - but then again - we only saw a bit of the whole drive and it did seem that he was stopped at a lot of traffic lights - where he might have only been stopped at say 10 and was just cruising along at 30mph (or whatever their suburban limit is) for some decent stretches at a time.

And we all know how little fuel the R36 would use at 60km/h in 6th - I regularly get figures into the 4's and low 5's L/100km/h on the instant consumption gauge.

I was all exicted when I saw the start of the esp only to see not one bit of information was given about the car - I bet VW were not that happy.

Bit of a stupid story if you ask me given that quite a few people will get the inbuilt GPS system which does not have the updated features.

On a separate issue do VW/makers of the GPS system release a new version of the software so you can get lane indication or eco driving? Or are you stuck with the version that the unit came with at manufacture?

Well the test was for a hand held gps with the eco feature so I guess the car was incidental to the story. You would assume tho that if there was a market for it then it will make it's way to the car versions soon enuf

Fifth gear is a third rate show that has a target audience of morons who can't put 2 and 2 together.

If you buy a R36 do you really care about trying to save a little bit of fuel consumption by driving in that manner?

New maps and features come out each year. The RNS 510 already has lane indication but it's still your job to watch the road and watch signs when using navigation.
