R36 - Didn't actually get rain sensing windscreen?

    Hi guys,

Much like you, im one of those people that is pedantic about making use of every feature my car has. As such, I've read my car manual from front to back three times and I swear it tells me my R36 should have rain sensing wipers, but my stalk doesn't have the same buttons etc as the Passat stalk in the manual..

Should I have rain sensing wipers? And how the hell do I turn it on?

I've got the white MFD if that makes a difference.

    Thanks VWW!

    Pretty sure it's standard.

Check your right stalk. That's where mine is located. There should be a little switch thing on top of the stalk which control the wipers, the swipe rate, etc.

To activate rain sensing simply put the right stalk first click up from the bottom. The little tab on top adjusts the sensitivity. All R36's definatley have rain sensing as standard

Thanks guys. Had a bit of on/off rain today and played with settings. Definitely works on the first click up. Had it on the least sensitive setting and it was pretty much perfect.

Sort of on topic, wow Rain-X (that you add to your washer bottle) is awesome. Windscreen practically cleans/dries itself!

I had the same issue with my car, I thought it didn't have auto wipers. I was looking for an auto setting on the stalk (that's what my other car has). I thought it was weird that a car with so much tech stuff didn't have auto wipers as standard.

To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of them anyway. I find they get set off from the tiniest sprinkle, yet when it's raining a lot heavier its takes it sweet time in going off and I just turn them on manually.

That was why I didn't think they were working.. One I had some patience and just put it on the lowest setting they work well.

They also work if some thick dust blows on the screen or leaves etc

Is the touching on the glass and not necessarily rain

The worst bit about delayed start of wipers is when the car has small water droplets and visibility is minimum, but the wipers dont work till you drive off.
