    R36 Deliveries

Has anyone else who ordered an R36 (or any other car) which was shipped out on the WW Otello had their car delivered yet? The ship stopped in Melbourne and unloaded on 7 Nov having previously been to Fremantle and subsequently went on to Port Kembla and Brisbane. The dealer has told me today that my car is still in Melbourne with Patricks because of compliance plate issues (I'm not sure what this means). Car was ordered June 30 and I've been given a VIN by the dealer which allowed me to track it on the WW website

    Anyone have any ideas?

Yes, keep waiting because the car will come (unless the wharfies write it off that is when moving it around ).

If they're busy it can take 2-4 weeks to get out of there, if the car has accident damage they'll be fixing it, the dealer might be too busy with other cars coming in and so forth. I was lucky because my car was at the dealers within days but this is the exception not the rule.

Mine was also on the otello. I was told by the dealer that they are having heated discussions with patricks as they are suppose to put priority on the sold cars before the stock cars and they are not doing that. They are having stock cars arrive at the dealership before the ordered ones such ar ours. As of yesterday they have only cleared 1/3 of the cars.

Give the wharfies a chance to run the cars in already!!

Delivery seems to take forever these days (probably longer if you know the ships name ).

I have a theory that the relationship between VWA and Patricks is not always happy and harmonious.

VWA probably only pay for the basic level of service, not the premium, quick turnaround that some other importers seem to get. That would explain the long delays in getting VWs out to dealers that seems to happen from time to time.

The dealers are often unhappy about it too, as they can't sell cars and get money (and the owners keep bugging them about where is their car )

    Delivery

Might be worse now but our Mk VI Golf was 8 calendar days between landing at Port Kembla and delivery in Moss Vale (NSW Southern Highlands). That included the trip to VW in Ingleburn and then back to Moss Vale. Dealer had quoted 8-10 working days and was a little surprised when it arrived inside his quoted time. Her TDI was the first "customer ordered and specified" that the dealer sold. Ordered on March 3. Daughter was smiling and still is.

Maybe Golf was a bit boring and the wharfies are enjoying dock slalom with your far more exciting R36s.

Three weeks ago I was quoted March/April delivery for a customer spec TDI or V6 CC before I accepted a dealer stock TDI that was over my specs (sunroof) but came to a satisfactory arrangement with the dealer.
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

That's next Thursday - I'd be happy with this, but it still strikes me as weird that it takes so long. They'd have to strip away the salt protection wax (or whatever they use), but I can't figure out what else they have to do.

I don't think I'll stop calling though - squeaky wheels get the oil etc
