In Perth we've had a lot of cold yet Sunny days.
Going to work (in the dark) the system works fine.
Yet coming home in the afternoon with the outside temp indicating 14deg and the system set to 23deg the climate control system decides it wants to freeze us by blowing cold air at fan speed 3 or 4 !

My Audi could be left at 23deg year in year out and always adjusted itself according to the conditions beautifully yet the R36 can't do that.

Is there a problem or is it normal?
Currently every afternoon I have to turn the AC off and adjust the fan speed down manually...surely that's not right
I've got a 4 week old MK6 Golf and it does the exact same thing you have described. Mornings gets nice and warm but some afternoons will just blow cold air.
I've had it check out twice and they have said there is nothing wrong with it.
The dealer were kind enough to lend me a new GTI for the night to compare and it did the exact same thing as mine.
It must be just the way the system works.

    OLD Climate control:

    NEW Climate Control:

That old climate control pic is NOT an R36. And if the new pic is, then it looks ridiculous! The shifter is wrong and the HVAC controls look cheap and tacky. And I'm not even going to mention the spew worthy seats that aren't even alcantara! Looks more like a CC interior to me, with the R36 metalic dash trim.

This is WAY nicer! And 5 temp settings for the heated seats too.

I picked my R36 up last Wednesday, Rocket...only 3 temp settings for the front heated seats.

    Yeah
Auto with one light illuminated is the low auto option correct?

got in the car today at the end of the day - was parked in the sun - temp was a cool 12 degrees outside, Climate was set to 23 - no cold air.

I know about ruining seals if you dont use the aircon Rocket - I'll do a couple of trips per week (of 30min or more) with the compressor engaging to keep everything nice.

    A me too...

Phew, I thought it was just me. Temp set to 21C, on Auto (A/C on) and get blasted with cold air also - happens even when ambient temp in cabin would be below 21C and car is parked under cover i.e. first thing in the morning in Melb at the moment. Played around, but no luck resolving it. Compared to the Suby GT, I've gotta say at this stage the MY10 climate controlled aircon is very ordinary. Will play around some more, but seriously .....

    Rocket36,

The pictures I posted were of the web, as i had no actual photos of climate control in my R36. I'm located at the Rialto and happy to meet if your interested at looking at the new climate control of a MY10 R36, plus other minor refinements over the MY09 R36 that i have noticed.
