    R34,

From memory the left light illuminated on AUTO button indicates LOW Auto option and right light illuminated indicates HIGH Auto option. Again, refer to user manual.

Rocket36 is correct, in the MY09 R36 (older style Climate Control) it had a dial with 6 temperature settings, whereas the new MY10 R36 climate control has only 3 temperature settings (push on temperature dial).

My aircon is also very ordinary and does what others have posted. Frankly it's not good enough for a car at this price.
Particularly annoying now that we're in the middle of winter here in Qld (the outside temp is hitting in the low 20's !!!!!!)
As to the new air-con controls versus the MY09? IMO they're terrible and a step backwards for sure (my Golf has this "new" climate controller and the "old" R36 one is much better to use)
Thankfully the Golf also displays the temp around the control knob so I won't lose temp display when I lose the Rcd (I assume it's the same on the MY10 R36? dual displays?)
Mini Cooper S Chilli- when I can pry the keys
Carbon Steel GTi 19" BE by Breyton,LED tail lights, NEW 8" Nav !

Yes the MY10 R36 has the dual display (temperature around temperature dial and also RCD when any settings is changed).

Again, MY09 R36 temperature dial had increments of 0.5 degree whereas MY10 R36 has 1 degree increments. So people who are not sure whether they would like 19 or 20 degrees can opt for 19.5 degrees in the MY09 R36 climate control.

Please elaborate. I'm not saying things haven't improved as I would expect minor improvements all the time from (even slightly) newer models. But I'm just curious what refinements you're referring to from and already exceptionally well refined car.

    Hi ZSolt,

As I am expecting a MY10 R36, I am curious to know what are the other minor refinements?

    Rocket36/Szikou,

here is some of the changes i have noticed from MY09 to MY10:

Under-tray has channels cut out for directing air at brakes
Wheel arch plastic cover has cut out for additional cooling of brakes
Brake calipers seems to be different (actually different shape)
Different climate control fully integrated with RCD510 : not sure whether this is really a refinement
    MFD has additional Oil Temperature

    Thanks ZSolt.

It appears that these changes are improvement uprgades rather than cost cutting changes.

Brake cooling is cool. I'd call it an improvement rather than a refinement though. How many pots are the new calipers though? That's the important part. I LOVE the stopping power by the way...

HVAC controls aren't a refinement at all... More like a step backwards as there is LESS features! I also use my HVAC temp display in engineering mode for more accurate road speed than the speedo.

Oil temp is already accessable on my car.
