R36 Brake Pads and Rotor Replacement

    Newbie posting Warning ....

As title says, I need to replace the lot. Anyone got any good ideas on where to go and where to save money in Sydney near Eastern suburbs. I want to retain factory warranty too.

I've been quoted about $1200. Is this reasonable ?

Thanks in advance for any feedback you can give.

    Cheers Andy

I'm in the same boat, looking at getting genuine rotors with Hawk Ceramic pads. Anyone use this combo on an R36 before. I've got these pads on my GTR with good results (quiet and minimal dust with good fade resistance). Pads are priced around $200 each end.

What are you trying to retain factory warranty on? pads & rotors? If so, you need to fit genuine VW parts. If you mean the warranty on the calipers, providing you stick with an OEM spec, you should be OK.

IIRC, the handbrake is electric? Therefore, you need to electronically reset the handbrake mechanism (you cant simply wind in the piston with a universal tool). Wolfsburg or VWVillage are close to you.

    Thanks RS36 DSG and brad

FYI. I got quotes from VW Village and Wolfsburg. Prices $1250 and $1000 correspondingly, for 4 wheels - pads and rotors OEM - ATE or ????

Spoke to Greg and prices for parts only $682 with free delivery. Labour only about $250 from Wolfsburg. Went with Job at Wolfsburg. Nice people.

Good luck with brakes ladies and gentlemen !

Just to add, if not done correctly either the motor on the rear brakes can fail quite easily.

The term "saving money" and the "eastern suburbs" are rarely used in the same sentence...!

I use Dean from VW Mobile Servicing for 99% of the work on my car. He's way cheaper than the usual suspects, is fully VW qualified and carries all of the special tooling required for some of the fiddly work. And he's a good guy too!
