We need a 3rd option, Economy, Drive and Sport.

Economy would be as Drive is now, ie quick to shift up to a higher gear for economy purposes.

Drive would be between Economy and Sport mode.

    Sport is as it is.

Most of the current VW car models with the DSG seem to suffer the same problem... the CC Diesel I drive last week (whist I was getting the towbar fitted and the window tinting done) was the same, in city stop start it was it revving so low it was very uncouth but in sport mode it was at the other end of the rev range.

I did a long drive on the w/e up the coast and my R36 and ir would benefit from slighty taller gearing (or a seventh gear) sitting on 100 it was doing 2400RPM and could have been a lot more relaxed!

The Golfs seem to suffer the same thing.

That's essentially why they developed the 7 speed DSG yeah? I agree regarding high speed (110kph) crusing. Should be around 1800 - 2000 rpm.
