Ok i have been trying to find out what the difference between CAWB engine CBFA Engine and CCTA Engine? I am looking for a downpipe for my car i have been told it is CAWB but want to know what the difference is between all them. The company i got my car chipped through doesnt seem to want to tell me for some reason. So anyone HELP please

The only way you'll know is if you look up what your engine is. It'll be inside the cover of your service book, on a printed label.

Sometimes they change the engine codes, even if two engines are identical, besides some software mapping in the ECU, or some bracketry is different to suit another car. There's never been any known logic to the engine codes, unlike those used for Nissan, or Toyota for example.

Slight difference in the power band is all that i can see and what engines that they put in which vehicle, looks like you have a CCTA/CBFA for passat b6. This can make a difference in the exhaust as i know in the golf that depending on the engine and whether it is tsi or fsi then there are different amount of o2 sensors and how many bungs will be required for the empty holes.

Ok it is a TSI Passat Wagon 08
The engine number is CAW 008416
I am running the APR Chip stage 1 the guy said it is a CAWB but the down pipe i am looking at is CCTA,
This what said on Ebay thing:
To determine if your TSI is the CBFA, look at the stock intake system. If your intake system has a small 1 inch diameter hose coming off of the airbox, before the Mass Air Flow sensor, your vehicle is CBFA.
Mine doesnt have that so i am guessing it is the CCTA, am i correct in saying this?

Your engine will be a CAWB, but whether either of those downpipes is compatible is another thing.

Apparently from a quick Google search, CAWB and CCTA are very much the same. Still, the question begs as to whether the Passat has a different downpipe altogether, compared to CAWB and CCTA-engined Golfs, Sciroccos, etc.

I don't blame them that they don't want to tell. They have done the research, collected all the info and knowledge imported the parts and then people just go and bypass them, buying it of the internet; and even go to them for the information which part to get.

You'll have a $300 paperweight if it doesn't fit, plus a labour bill to find out as well.

Here's a thing you can do, buy ETKA on DVD off ebay install it and check the VW part numbers of the downpipes for both engine types. If they are the same, win. If not, win as well because you didn't order the wrong pipe.

It would appear that no one else has done this on here, so as the pioneer are you willing to take someone else's word. I know I wouldn't.

I did the same thing for my S3, checked the part number of the downpipe against that of the MK1 TT and ordered a TT downpipe from 42DD 100% confident it was going to fit.

Mine was $700 and some, so I'd be wary fitting $300 parts anyway, does it have a cat? What are you going to do about the CEL it is likely to flow if there isn't a cat or the cat is high flow?
