You can use those fuses with a terminal on them that you can hook up to.

Amarok, you can use the same setup.

Having just said that, I just looked at the jaycar product and hey are very interesting indeed. I am almost thinking about not bothering with ripping apart fuse box for additional circuits.

I did so with the golf and adding reverse camera into kl15 always on power.

You could always do it the same way we add the OEM circuitry into them for towbars. You basically add your wiring to the rear side of the fuse box, with your desired fuse in the front like normal. Untrained eye wouldn't pick it.

I reckon these are a more elegant solution than the Jaycar one 2X Fuse Holder Piggy Back ADD A Circuit Mini Blade Fuse UHF Stereo Lights | eBay

don't get me wrong - I know my way around a car, but the electrics of the VW's have me a little wary...

I've got the same install to do in my Amarok when it gets delivered, but there are interface plugs under the dash that will make that a lot easier...
You only need power on one leg of the fuse as if you look at the picture you will see the lead that comes off the back of it gives you the power You don't need an "out" side

I put the line fuses in as the only Jaycar ones are 10 amp and the camera one is 2 amp so put the smaller ones in for safety.
I didn't actually need them as the ciggy lead has its own anyway. Realised that after I had installed it but not to worry.

Entirely over to you but why worry about something that does the job and you cant see it anyway.

Also with VW you don't want to be adding to circuits as you may send computer into limp mode with added resistance on a circuit.

That's why you cant just cut into rear lights to add a towbar connection.

I have used these on 4 vehicles to install 6 cameras and had no trouble at all.

If you use the piggybacks you have to find a suitable circuit whereas I have given you all you need to just plug them in and they work.

ah ha! how I get it - I thought you were adding a fuse to pick up the circuit from behind the panel (lots more to pull apart)... the Jaycar gizmo makes perfect sense now

I'll definitely be using your approach! Thanks for the pictures, as they've cleared up where I was confused

agree. I probably will still follow the oem route. only way to pick it is when you see a yellow repair wire out the back. I purchased multiples of each repair wires for events like this

Do it my way and you can remove it all in about 10 mins and never know its been there Only have to undo the screw for the earth the rest just pulls out

Only takes 15 mins to install a camera the same as I did ( the second time) LOL

Took a couple of hours to do the rear but would be faster next time as have the body trim tools to do it now
