possibly buying '01 passat

hey, i'm thinking of moving on from my 180sx to a 01 passat gp (v6, fwd, 5spd manual, factory kit, 109k kms). Does anyone have some advise for what to look out for? my biggest concern is that its manual, I wanted an auto for traffic etc I might be looking at this car on the weekend, so i know what to expect how fast are these compared to a comodore or similar?

are there many options for making these things faster? i'm used to upgrades being in abundance and cheap as chips with my 180sx

i dont know much about passats, but i can tell you that mods will not be cheap and that most will not be available in AUS. most will have to be ordered from US.

Not sure abt the V6 but as it is a NA engine, mods would be limited as compared to the turbo models...

I don't remember reading much complaints for the 5 spd, so it should be quite ok...
