    Passenger Mirror Reverse Dipping Wrong

    Hey guys,

So my girlfriend drove my car for the first time yesterday (No issues ) and since she adjusted the mirrors for her, they are now not behaving like they used to!

So the previous behaviour was that I always leave the mirror adjustment knob in the Left position, pretty much permanently unless I switch to heater or fold them in. But whenever I am driving normally, it's on Left. This means that when I go into Reverse, the passenger mirror dips all the way down. When I go back into Drive, the mirror goes back to its previous position. I never have to touch the adjustment knob.

Now though, if I leave it in the L position, the mirror dips when I go into Reverse, but it stays dipped when I go back into Drive. The only way to get it to go back to normal is that I have to manually switch the adjustment knob into the centre position between L and R. So if I want to reverse dip now I have to switch it to L and to make it go back I have to switch it to centre. If I leave it in the centre position permanently it doesn't dip at all but I believe that part is correct behaviour.

Does anyone know why it's not working properly now? I assume I'm missing something obvious. I tried resetting the correct and dipped positions to memory, and the new positions did save, but I still have to use the knob to make it work now.

Does the mirror return to normal after driving off. It is not just drive but going over a certain speed that make it go back to normal.
I think this is to stop it going up and down continually as you manoeuvre into a card space.

I'll have to test. I was only testing by moving backwards and forwards in one spot, probably not enough to trigger the behaviour.

Given your comment it has just occurred to me that possibly, she may have adjusted the mirrors while the mirror was dipped and messed it up. Now I know the dipped/normal positions are correct, I will go have another play at speed and see. Thanks.

Also I'll teach her to set it up properly and assign her settings to memory so this doesn't happen again, hehe.

It does give instructions in the manual on how to set it after incorrect adjustment Can be adjusted differently for each key also and that would mean her settings would automatically set on entry and yours would with your key

Yep, like I thought, it was something simple I was missing. You guys were spot on, I was not giving the car enough speed to make it automatically raise back up. I suspect the initial problem might have been she adjusted the mirror in the wrong mode or something, as it was definitely way too low when it went back to raised position even after I tried to fix it, not sure exactly what she did, but then that was compounded because I fixed both modes but wasn't getting up to speed to let it auto correct. So I thought I hadn't fixed the issue, but I had!

She doesn't have her own key, she uses mine, but the mirror memory is tied to the seat memory buttons as well so I'll commit her settings to one of those.

    Thanks guys, solved that one!
