    Passat VR6

So there has been much deliberation in the house of Loon as late.

The wifes Saab Turbo has reached that age when I`m spending too long fixing it.

I want to get her back in the fold of VW and we need a bigger car than a golf. So I`m thinking Passat. Particularly after seeing the one Ausgolfer nabbed in Melbie.

The car has to have leather, go fast and preferrably be manual.

Nearly bought a 1998 Model last week with a blown Turbo. It was a bargain, but a basketcase. As soon as I saw the P plates I thought Oh No.

So we found this. 1996 Model VR6 in Green with Grey Leather. All Options.

Auto unfortunately, but its an imperfect universe!

It has 110000kms and everything works, electrics, sunroof, air, heat. Its great. Goes Hard

Needs a better stereo, Bigger Wheels. 17s at least we think and maybe a wheelbearing.

    Dieselize it!

Looks beautiful, Matt. BUT......Pull the motor and put a 1.9TDI and 5 speed into it (better still with your connections in the UK get a 1.9TDI and 6 speed out of a wreck!) That would get rid of the slushbox and didn't anybody tell you that we've reached "Peak Oil"?

I`m adompting the emu attitude to peak oil (head in sand) at the moment, but the petrol for the Passat will still be less than a commie or falcon.

Here's someone actually doing this - putting a TDi in a passat (although it's a later model):

    New Shoes

Got some Audi TT wheels on bay for the Girls Passat

The old tyres were too old and the wheels too small for the car.
These have good rubber and a few scrapes. I`m not to worried about that, as the Mrs tends to scrape park anyway.

It handles better on the corners and no rubbing.

Might have to harass the wise one for a box. Dunno about the TDI. VR6 Manual would be pretty sweet though.
