    passat service now

hi, i have a 2001 1.8t passat, now i take me car for services every 5000kms and for the last couple of weeks every time i turn on my car it beeps and says service now!, just wont to know if anyone knows how to turn this device off as i have rang volkswagen and they say it will cost me $80 to do it which i think is a big rip off. there has to be an easyer option.

You need to get friendly with someone who has VAGCOM. Oh... And welcome!

To reset the service interval (This is how it works on my 99 passat, should be the same for yours):

Ignition off. Press and keep pressed the button under the speedometer as you turn the ignition on. Let go of the button. Now turn the digital clock button to the right until the service interval indicator reads "service---". Turn ignition off. Done!

An easy way to reset it is to press the tripmeter button, then turn the ignition on and reease button. Press the minute set button and voila! Reset! Welcome to the forum, I( hope you enjoy your time gere and I hope that helps you out. Cheers, Andrew

Read up on VAG-COM at ross-tech.com

It's used to diagnose problems in the electronic systems in the car.

That reset procedure should be written in the owners manual if you have it.

No probs cuzza83. Thats what the forum here is all about. Helping out, unlike your rip off dealer where ever you are!!!!!!! $80? Mate, it takes all of 20 seconds, maximum!! Longer if you were to plug in to do it.
By the way Brackie ect, the procedure is the same on mk4s and mk5s as well.
    Cheers, Andrew
