Passat Sedan - Rear View Camera (RVC) Plus dealer fit possible?

    Hi there,

I am looking into getting a Passat Sedan (not a wagon for safety reasons for the kids with stuff flying around if a crash occurs) but it looks like you can't get the Rear View Camera (RVC) Plus option with the Sedan.

    Does anybody know why?

I noticed it is available on the Passat CC - so was wondering if anybody knew if the dealer could fit that to the sedan?

    Anybody looked into it?

    Thanks everyone for your help!

My understanding was that you can get teh rvc as an option on the sedan with the rns-510. I am sure of it as its listed on the parts price list (well options acutally). I am not sure its a dealer fit option as its quite trickey and would take them a lot of time to do at the dealership (and costr a bomb with labour).

Don't forget the wagons come with a retractable safety net to prevent things from the load area coming into the passenger area.

... or you could get a cargo barrier installed in the wagon if you prefer something a little more sturdy than the safety net.

Personally I reckon the wagon is fantastic. It comes standard with a retractable net and luggage cover to stop things flying into the front of the car, but as I said you can always intall a cargo barrier.

How secure is the standard retractable net and luggage cover though? It seems quite flimsy and I don't imagine it could withstand and impact of 1200KG? (That is with a 60kg load impacting at a force equivalent to that experienced in a 48kmh frontal crash) - would love to be proved wrong though as I love the wagon!

As for the cargo barrier -- any ideas of brands or what kind of place I could get one fitted? (or should I start another thread?)

    Thanks!

The retractable net seems OK although I couldn't comment on how it would cope in a 48km crash... maybe go and check out a wagon at your local dealer.

The luggage cover is more for privacy than anything else

With regards to the cargo barrier you can get one fitted as an added accessory when you order the car. I think the cost is around $350 to $400. Usually they are removable so if you need to lower the back seats to carry extra cargo it shouldn't be a problem.

Personally I reckon the Passat is one of the few cars in the world where the wagon looks better than the sedan!

    Yep the Wagon looks better

Also, I hate cargo barrier cause they always rattle and squeak. Our company Falcodore wagons all have them for safety and they give me the ****s.
