    Passat R36 Ecu options

    hello,

I was wondering what ecu flashes are available for the R36 MY09/MY10 model?

Is there an open-source ecu software option available?

Has anyone gone/heard/read with a stand-alone ecu such as Autronic or Motec?

are the engines in these things strong and reliable?

    thanks

Toads, Have had a reflash done by Martin Donnon and am happy with the outcome. The ECU is a Bosch MED 9.1 (or variations of same I think there have been at least 3 so far). Hope that helps, cheers pj

cool, so this reflash is by an actual marketed product, or was it an open source program that anyone can use to read and flash the ecu's rom?

I don't reckon you find anything open source. There's a few tuners that have done the R36, Martin Donnon being one.

I hope to be doing one in a few weeks time, once the tuned file is written.

I thought that he did that himself on the dyno?

Did I read it wrong in the now removed thread, before it was removed?

Just to clarify we have a network of tuners that work together. The initial definition file we used on PJs car was one tweaked for a UK car, and with all of the crucial areas identified it was then optimised for Aussie 98 octane on the chassis dyno. So yes I suppose both answers are correct, but in this modern day and age customising the tune to the individual car will always give the best result no matter who does it
