    Passat Newb - Few Qs

I'm looking to buy a Passat wagon, really soon. Was looking at 2008-2009 125TDI sub 70,000km around $30K mark.
Today I saw a near new 2015.5 118TSI Wagon for $30K, I reckon I'd trade a bit of fuel consumption for a newer car and warranty, so it is on the plate too.

The questions I want answers to are
    1. How to tell if it has Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Front Assist and City Emergency Brake (City EB) function
    2. Does it have to have RNS510 with Nav to include the RVC and or dynamic guidance reverse lines ?
    3. Does the bluetooth work flawlessly with Android phones ?
    4. Is the 1.8L a slug around town ?
    5. The 3year warranty; is it unlimited or only 100,000km and it is fully transferrable ?

    MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.

i think acc and city eb can be set from the convenience menu so if they are absent then it won't have acc/eb
the rvc requires a screen to display the camera. i would imagine that the rns510 is the only way to go
bluetooth has worked flawlessly in my original skoda install for golf gti.. this is a very early model of the newer units so i would imagine that it will be fine.
not sure on the slug question.

3year would be 100,000km and is transferrable.

ACC is easily seen by looking at the badge on the front If its solid plastic it could have both ACC and front assist.

The MFD will confirm this as you flick through the Convenience menu as said above.

OPS is standard but the RVC is an optional extra

Dont know about Android but both my Iphone and Wifes LG work Ok

Mine has Satnav (boohoo) and so has a camera Look under the tailgate above number plate and see if camera is there.

Depends on who gives the warranty but usually are transferable But I would enquire if it a VW warranty or just an Allianz or similar.

    Mine is with Swann

The TDI has a 6sp DSG which is probably a better option.

The 125 goes pretty good so a 118 wouldnt be far behind.

Thanks. The car has 7Speed DSG.

I'll get on the phone and ask all the hard qs tomorrow.

I think the 7 sp DSG is a differnt box to the 6 sp TDI/V6 version which is preferred.

I have only had android phones & have paired at least 4 different versions & all but 1 worked without problem. The Samsung Nexus was the fault, not the car.

All other questions I think have been answered.

Someone will doubtless correct me if Im wrong but my take on the DSG boxes is that the 6 spd is a heavier duty wet clutch box and the 7 spd is a lighter dry clutch version.
It seems from these forums there has been less problems with the 6 spd.

Yep, that is correct. the 6spd is wet clutch and for higher torque applications. 7speed is dry clutch for less torque.

    Do you mean 2012.5?

    2. Does it have to have RNS510 with Nav to include the RVC and or dynamic guidance reverse lines ?
No. My 2010 R36 only has the RCD510 (6.5" touch screen stereo without nav). I have the factory RVC fitted, and I have the dynamic guide lines.

    4. Is the 1.8L a slug around town ?
My sister just picked up a MY2013 Passat 118TSI at the beginning of October. She gets a whole bunch of nice toys and evolutionary improvements as standard fitment that I don't have on my R36, dammit....

Anyway, while I haven't driven it, it certainly feels zippy enough when she's driving it. With 118kw/250nm it's at least a match for comparable 4-cylinder mid-size wagons like the Ford Mondeo (2.3l, 118kw/208nm, 9.5l/100km), Mazda 6 (2.5l, 125kw/226nm, 8.9l/100km), and the Subaru Liberty (2.5l, 123kw/229nm, 8.3l/100km), but being a smaller displacement engine with forced induction, it has fuel economy (7.5l/100km) and driveability (peak torque at 1500rpm) advantages.

In my opinion the engine in my 118tsi is one of its best features. It has more than enough go for me.

From a standing start I would think it would give the 125 tdi a run for its money. The diesel would probably kill it for overtaking on the move..

From my experience the 118tsi uses about 30% more fuel than the old 103kw tdi around town. On the open road it is closer (the tdi is mid 5's per 100km vs mid 6's for the tsi).
