    Passat MY12.5

    Hi GUys,

Just saw on the carsales.com.au ad a Passat with MY12.5
I thought MY12 was the latest???? I noticed the aircondition buttons are different from looking at a MY12.

Since when did MY12.5 been out?? Has anyone recently bought a MY12.5 and which build date was it?
Mine was built on Dec 2011/jan 2012 and is still on its way to me. Would that be a MY12 or MY12.5

    Im puzzled.

Id be interested to work out if a .5 exists.... and if it does a wee bit pi$$ed if i ended up with the last of the .0's

Actually no need to post the link... google for passat 3c my12.5 and they appear

    Can this be right?

---------- Post added at 10:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:00 PM ----------

It looks like the update climate control looks like what's in the passat in the USA. I'm really intrigue by this.

Actually even in the German Vw site shows the update climate control.

Does anyone have this on their new b7 yet?

I did some more digging. If your car to arrive Vin# is close to this numbers you are mostlikely a my12.5

    Hmmmm

    mine is wvwzzz3czcexxxxxxx

hopefully the last letter being different is just a paint code or somesuch.

hmmm just downloaded the nhtsa spec for vins... first three digits is the manufacturer code. next five digits is the model designation (hence 3c). the ninth digit is a checksum which follows a formula of weightings and values (as the high weights contain z'ds w's etc. it ends up being a z).

the next number is the model year... it was reset to A for the my10, therefore C is my12. the last alpha is the plant of manufacture.

there is no provision for 1/2 model years in the coding... so it would be in the sequential numbering, and i am not within cooee (95 thousands)...

So which month or year was your car ordered to be built.

I'm really curious about this MY12.5 I can't find any diff aside from pic comparison on the VW Germany site and that carsales ad with that MY12.5 TDI

Mine was built either on end of dec01 or early Jan012. It left Germany in Jan and ETA end of Feb to land in Aus.

Do let me know what you get from the dealers. Thanks

I got nothing back from my dealer as yet, to be fair I deal with a multi franchise fleet lady.

What I have found out is that the VIN you proposed is the sedan range, the VIN with E and the number range in the 90thousand odd seems to be reflected in the MY12.5 wagons.... That means two things, sedans and wagons appear to be made in different plants and in completely different VIN ranges, and I still have a chance of my car being 12.5.

I would say you would be safe in being a 12.5

I went back and looked at Passat Alltrack launch pictures and they have the new climatronic controls, it was launched in europe around the 23rd of Nov with pics... I would like to think launch stock would have had to go down the line a few days earlier, so the update would have occured at least a week before the 23rd.... I am hoping that a vin is generated and appears on the tracker within a day or two of manufacture , my vin appeared on the 22nd.... so here is to hoping, because although they kinda look like a golf v throwback I like the look of those climatronic controls over the black monoblock with orange LED blocks controls.... they look more bespoke to the car IMHO...
