Hi all this is my first post. I have recently purchased a new passat wagon and got the factory blue tooth option. I must say that the quality of the blue tooth is pretty average and the worst part of the whole car IMO as the rest of the car is awesome.

As for the fitting, the mike has a little black bracket next to the stereo up near the drivers left leg. The photos are taken with my phone so they are not the best quality.

Which dealer fitted the bluetooth kit, they need to learn the correct method of installation. The mic is to far away and you will have annoying feedback.

The dealer that installed my blue tooth kit was Camberwell Volkswagen in Melbourne. I find that if I turn up the volume too much then the person on the other end gets a bad echo. People also comment that the quality of my voice is not very good.

Any tips on where the mike should be placed 95vr6.

Usually the mic is mounted on the RH pillar between the windscreen and RH door.... although the wifes Beema has it centre of windscreen above the rear view mirror. Both locations seem OK in my experience.

Guess I'll find out tomorrrow where mine is located...

I install mostly Nokia bluetooth kits for coparate customers, the A pillar or just above the centre mirror are the best spots to place mic. Do you have the audio coming through the factory speakers. I find if the Rx audio is to loud it will cause feedback. I would request the dealer to relocate mic to the above locations.

I agree re the location and will get it moved... The audio is via the stereo and I have found in the wifes Beema that when she has the audio up too loud the audio clips and cuts out due to feedback. Your comment about the Rx audio being too high seems valid.

I got noticable improvement by setting the phone audio to 100% LH front speaker which is the most shielded speaker relative to the mic. Perhaps since the mic is the better part of half a meter from my head the AGC on the mic makes it too sensitive... ?? relocating to the A-pillar seems to make sense.

I note that there is a series of grill holes in the overhead console that has the lights in it... perhaps in there would be good too? I see in the manual the euro models seem to have a cradle option as well... perhaps it is a fully intergrated factory fit option there?

The grills you are talking about is where the factory mic is located in the old W8 passat aswell. See if they can mount it behind this panel for factory fit, if they dont damage the panel on removal.
