    Passat with Free Onroads deal

I have a family member interested in a new 103kw TDI sedan, spoken with the dealer i bought my car from and apparently til monday there is a free onroads deal going on. though vw australia are handling the stock for this.

Whiat i want to know is has anyone managed to haggle them down any further on this. it seems to be a "thats the price, put down a deposit of what spec u want and if u are lucky u might get it"

It leaves the car at 42,490 out the door, or $43480 with metallic.

    Any opinions?

The only thing I've got for free is a set of heavy duty rubber mates.
    $52000 with following options:
MY08 125 TDI Passat Wagon with DSG, Deep Black PE Paint, Leather Pack, Fog Lights, Rubber floor mates, Boot tray, Tinted windows and 12 month rego in SA.
I did not try hard to negotiate price with the dealer because of the better-than-0thers trade-in price for my old car.
Car is scheduled to be delivered next week.

Yeah, if it was me id got the 103.

From what i have assumed, is the 103 the PD engine while the 125 is the Common Rail?

For the free on road offer, both TDI engines are PD engines.
From MY09 model year, VW will use common rail engines for the Passat models. I think that's the reason why they offer this free on road deal. After 3 hours of test drive, I am convinced the 125 KW engine worths the extra $2500. It also has bigger and better-looking wheels (17"). Not to mention the time difference of 0-100 Km/h. (8.8 sec vs 10.1 sec)
The most important factor: the fuel consumption is almost the same. (6.7 vs 6.
I think you should be able to get a better price in Melbourne.

Alas, its not for me, but if it was it would be 125 all the way as i have the same engine in my golf.

after the last post i compared the specs in the brochures online and it looks like the Fuel System is different.

    Passat has

    Simos PPD1

    Golf has

    Bosch EDC 16
    with unit injectors
    (Pumpe Düse

It is the same for both 103 and 125

    free on roads

I have ordered my 08 passat 125 kw with free on roads about a week ago , i also got a free towbar, window tint and rubber floor mats for an extra $500 . you are the one with the money just be prepared to walk to another dealer if they say no. You will be suprised how much they want the deals , they know time for the car industry is going to get tough over the next few years.

    Well done, capt pug wash.
That's an extra $2000 discount on top of the free-on-road offer.
It is too bad that there is only one VW dealer in Adelaide

Nothing like a heavy duty rubber mate, hope it was at least a female one.

Thats good, at least now i know they can go further, its not for me, but the details i got were base model tdi. this has now changed to a silver 125 tdi. i tld him to try and get some extras thrown in to sweeten the deal.
