    Passat brake dust

    Hello all,

anyone got any ideas for a quick and easy removal of brake dust on the alloys?

Since i have had my passat, i have been buying the spary on liquid for this job. Does good job, but at $30.00 for 2.5 l...........!!!!! And it does not last all that long..!!!!

I've tried washing up liquid and a brush...takes too long... Not that effective.

I don't know if this is ok to use on alloys and near the brakes, but i make up my own degreaser by mizing kero, handy andy liquid and water, which i spay on greasy areas of my other car. Works a treat...and cheap too...!!!

Any home remedies or other ideas please ????

    Thanks..vw50

I use a Meguiars Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner and Meguiars tapered brush I purchased from Super Cheap. Works brillaintly. The taperd brush can get right into the wheel between the brake caliper and all the way to the back of the wheel and has a soft tip and soft handle so you do not damage the rim. Meguiars Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner is a spray on and hose off product and used in conjustion with the affore mentioned brush, works very well. Here is the Meguiars site for the Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner:

I use this product after the wheels are clean and it works brilliantly! Makes ongoing cleaning much easier - regular sponge and car wash liquid, just need to reapply it once a year

get a good quality wheel sealant/wax and the dust will come off with a bit of generic car wash and sponge action.
